Much of a child’s eye development happens before the age of seven so its really important to have eye examinations from a young age. We think all kids should have an eye examination and mum or dad will be pleased to know that the NHS pay…that means it doesn’t cost a penny for an eye examination.

Sometimes some children need to have drops put in their eyes to allow us to get a really accurate measure of your eyes. They will make the pupils (the black bit of your eye) go bigger and can make the vision blurry for a few hours But don’t worry, they are perfectly safe. Older children have their eyes tested just like adults but for younger children we have age specific tests, you don’t even need to know your letters to have an eye test.

At Osborne Harle we believe that no child should miss out on great vision so although the NHS does not support free spectacles, Osborne Harle do provide a small range of spectacles free of charge to those children who really need them. Nowadays spectacles are fun as well as practical and there are lots of cool glasses to choose from. Kids spectacles lenses will always be dispensed from safe materials, they won’t smash if the glasses are dropped. Its really important that the frames fit just perfectly so the glasses don’t slip down small noses or allow peeking around or over the lenses. Alternatively many kids can quite safely wear contact lenses if fitted and cared for properly.

Eyesight problems can cause problems at school, and damage development and confidence. Poor vision can make reading and writing difficult or make the eyes tired. Book your kids eye examination with Osborne Harle.
